The shock absorber has a mechanical assembly suspension, which has a cylindrical tube (1). A damper piston (2) is axially guided in a pneumatic or hydraulic damping unit (3) in the cylindrical tube. A sliding sleeve (7) is attached in the cylindrical tube, where the sliding sleeve is axially extended in a pressure-chamber-sided bore (8) of a piston rod (6), and has a locating surface (9) at a sliding-chamber-sided end. A rotationally drivable spindle (10) is arranged coaxially in the piston rod. A threaded nut (12) is engaged, which is axially guided in sliding sleeve in a non-rotary manner.
