Process for the separation of environmentally relevant heavy metals from sewage sludge ash

Separating environmentally relevant heavy metals from phosphate containing clear sludge ash involves (1) mixing the ash with environmentally compatible metal chlorides; (2) heating the mixture to above the boiling point of the obtained environmentally relevant heavy metal chlorides, and (3) separately collecting the gaseous heavy metal chlorides.
