The brake cylinder has a housing (2, 3, 4) fixable on the vehicle and provided with a piston rod (6) which is used to release the pressure chamber (12) which is formed inside the housing. A duct (8) in the longitudinal direction in the piston rod is connected on one side to the pressure chamber and on the other to a space outside of the housing. An opening in the diaphragm (13) releases the pressure chamber. The diaphragm itself is fixed sealed on a plate (10) next to the opening.
