The road vehicle (1) engine (4) drives a main automatic transmission (5). An auxiliary low and high range gearbox (7) is connected behind it, driving the differential to divide the power between the front (2) and rear (3) axles. A control circuit (8) for the engine has a two-way connection to a control circuit (10) with a control switch (12) for the auxiliary gearbox. This circuit has a two-way connection to a control circuit (9) with a gear lever (11) for the main automatic transmission.
