Since a hub (41) and a rigid control surface plate (42) for a shaft-driven alternator are made from a titanium alloy in a shaft gearing device, the weight of the shaft gearing device is reduced. Heat-rejecting ribs (46a) are placed on the sides of the rigid control surface plate, whose top surfaces have copper plating.
