Device for inserting a catheter according to the Seldinger method, has a slit (31) along the length of its case (3) and conical entry holes (32,33). The insertion hole (33) is connected to a bore section (34) and the wire probe (1) is inserted through the case. The inner diameter of the case is marginally larger than the outer diameter of the wire probe. The width of the slit (31) is also marginally larger than the outer diameter of the probe.
