beta-Isoindigo compounds with alicyclic or heterocyclic groups having C2v symmetry and also ortho-6-18C arylene groups are new. beta-Isoindigo compounds of formula (I) are new. C = an alicyclic or heterocyclic group having C2v symmetry; and B = ortho-6-18C arylene An Independent claim is also included for preparation of (I) by condensation of a bis-isoindolidene-diimine with an alicyclic or heterocyclic compound.
