Acquisition and evaluation method for three-dimensional (3D) velocity data sets from objects using an ultrasonic Doppler approach provides ultrasonic transceiver transducer for transmission and receipt of ultrasound along a 3D funnel along a main sound direction (RA, RB, RC), scans object using the transducer; and evaluates transducer signals to determine a 3D vectorial velocity field of the object (H). Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a further method for acquisition and evaluation of 3D velocity data sets in which scalar 2D velocity data sets are evaluated to provide a 3D velocity field preferably using Tikhonov normalization; (b) and two ultrasound systems for acquisition and evaluation of 3D velocity data sets from objects using an ultrasonic Doppler approach.
