The device comprises kinematic positioning elements as well as instrument carrying operative kinematic elements. An independent claim is made for a device for positioning and or moving a surgical instrument in an operating space within a human or animal body that has motor driven kinematic elements with an instrument (4) or its mounting held in a fixed point with the instrument pivoting about an axis and moving in a circular path.
