A vehicle terminal (1) comprises a receiver (2) and a traffic information unit (3). A reception field is fully subdivided into several regions and a traffic information transmitter is selected for each region. First, program identifications of the selected traffic information transmitters together with respective geographical coordinates of the regions are stored in a program identification list (6). An individual transmitter is selected based on the vehicle position (F-POS) in the list of the transmitters so that the transmitter's geographical coordinates indicate the shortest distance to the vehicle position. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle terminal.
