The method for the controlling of front or rear spoilers entails recording the RPM (n), engine torque (M), temperature (T) and parked time (tSTAND). From the recorded engine torque the required engine power is determined, and with the exceeding of a predetermined threshold value (SW) the front or rear spoiler is extended through the engine power. A retraction of the spoiler is avoided if the value of the engine power lies above the predetermined threshold value and the parked time lies below a predetermined minimum cooling down time.
