Layer combination with hydrophobic properties, which by intermediate switching of an Ox-layer, includes a hydrophobizing layer (HL) on the substrate, where the HL consists of hydrolysates of organosiloxanes or and/or organotrichlorosilanes and has a thickness of less than 50, preferably 1.5-5 nm. An independent claim is included for a process for application of a layer combination having hydrophobic properties in which the surface to be coated is first treated with a silane doped fuel gas/air/- and/or fuel gas/oxygen flame giving an SiOx-intermediate layer, after which an organosiloxane and/or trichlorosilane hydrolysate is applied to the intermediate layer.
