An accelerometer is moved together with the main rotor shaft and is spaced apart from the rotor axis. An acceleration component parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor is measured. The measured value is cyclically evaluated with respect to phase, in dependence on the rotor rotation position in synchronism with its rotation. Independent claims are included for the use of the method for flight stabilization of a helicopter, and for an apparatus for implementing the method.
