The authors have developed a number of electric machines for hybrid power systems with magnetic cores of various designs: radial, axial, and conical. It is suggested and proved that if a given set of parameters has the same corresponding values for electric machines with magnetic cores of different design, it can be argued that these machines have the same characteristics in terms of properties of interest. These machines are called equivalent by the authors. The weight and size parameters of these machines are different and depend on the angle of inclination of the air gap to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The formulas presented in this paper and the obtained dependences are developed by the authors. These dependencies allow us to form an algorithm for selecting the weight and size parameters of electric machines of various designs with excitation from permanent magnets at the stage of preliminary design.
