Method for venting a building by sucking air from the interior of the building (12) via a venting channel (30) using a fan (32), the suction capacity of which is dependent on its rotation speed. A pressure sensor (38) is connected to the venting channel via a pressure measurement hose (40). The measured pressure is used as a regulation value for regulating the fan speed. If the fan rotational speed or the measured pressure exceed predefined threshold values, an operating fault condition is diagnosed. The invention also relates to a corresponding venting installation for implementation of the inventive method.
