The washing machine has a cylindrical washing liquid container enclosing a cylindrical laundry drum, each open at one end to allow loading via a front access door in the housing of the washing machine and supported by suspension springs (14.1,14.2) from the upper part of the housing or the housing frame and by vibration dampers from the lower part of the housing or the housing frame. An inclination device allows the washing liquid container and the laundry drum axis (6.3) to be moved between a normal horizontal position and a backwards inclined position by altering the effective length of the rear suspension spring.
