A spindle (13) has clutch shoes (19) held by retaining elements (20) and both items are fitted as a unit from outside the spindle into blind recesses (16). The items (19, 20) are joined permanently, e.g. by riveting over the clutch shoe end, and the retainer (20) is attached in the recess, e.g. by springs or by adhesive. Three clutch shoes can be fitted in one plane or four shoes in pairs in offset planes.
