A hose knitting machine has stitch setting units (22A, 22B) attached to a curved guide (10) which is located opposite the rotating cylinder. The guide has two or more guide planes and has two or more independently-operated stitch setters for each guide feed. The stitch pitch is varied by means of a single setting unit (22A). The stitch setters (22A, 22B) engage with the curved guide setting components (14A, 14B) that are attached to the curved guide. The assembly has two or more curve setting units (14A, 14B) that may be coupled to each other by steps (14Ad, 14Bd) with hooks (14Ac, 14Bc). Also claimed is a commensurate hosiery stitch setting process.
