Selective thread guiding on circular knitting machines - esp hosiery machines, rings replace swing lever guides

A selective thread guiding arrangement for circular knitting machines, esp. stocking machines with a number of knitting systems, has, encircling the upper ends of the needles, a number of rings stacked one upon the other, which can be turned through an arc by a mechanism, anchored to the machine frame. Reach ring has =1 yarn guide, and pref. a guide for each knitting system, formed by a radial bore through the ring, so that when it is turned,the ring is moved to and from a position in which it feeds the yarn. The rings have a chamfer downwards and outwards, for opening the needle latches, and their inner circumferences close to the yarn guides are profiled to give freedom of movemnt to the needles. Replaces swinging lever yarn guides spaced radially round the needl cylinder. The cylinder can be turned and the needles raised and lowered without risk of breaking the latches.
