The continuously variable transmission includes a continuously variable toroidal gear (25a) with a pair of input discs (2a,2b), an output disc (17b), pivot pin, mounting shaft and power shaft. A number of protrusions (70,71) project from one input disc and are provided in positions closer to the outside diameter than to the roll circle diameter of a traction section in the proximity of the outermost diameter of the input disc. A number of connecting sections are formed in the carrier (64) of a planetary gear and the power transmission is effected between the carrier and input disc.
