PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, effectively and accurately measure a disc cavity diameter after the disc traction surface polishing processing of a toroidal continuously variable transmission.;SOLUTION: This disc cavity diameter measuring method measures a curvature Rα of a first surface by setting discs 2 and 3 on a base 200 of a measuring instrument by making a probe 202 contact with the first surface α of traction surfaces 2a and 3a in the height of the axis O' of the disc, and moving the probe contacting with the first surface along the first surface while rotating around a rotary shaft 206, and afterwards, measures a curvature Rβ of a second surface by moving the probe along the second surface while rotating around the rotary shaft by making the probe contact with the second surface β of the traction surface after moving the disc by a cavity quantity to the probe, by using a gauge of a length corresponding to a cavity diameter. The cavity diameter is arithmetically operated from the curvature of the first surface and the curvature of the second surface provided by measurement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
