A vehicle crash damper, to absorb the forces on a collision, has a mounting fastener (1) for attachment to the vehicle structure carrier, and a laying unit (6) to fit at the bumper, with a unit (2) between them to absorb energy. The unit to absorb energy has a trapezoid distorting component (3), with side edges out of parallel, and two parallel edges of different lengths.
