A heavy goods vehicle or double decker bus has a low-loader chassis (1) with a load-bearing columns (2) front and rear. The columns are linked by a load-bearing beam that is free to pivot left and right in the direction of travel under the influence of centrifugal loads exerted by the payload (5).
