The calibration thermostat (1) has a housing for receiving a bath (4) containing the liquid to be kept at moderate temperature, and also a temperature chamber (5) with an overflow into the bath. A temperature sensor (7) in the bath is connected to temperature measurement and control electronics (9). A reference temperature sensor (10) is positioned directly in the temperature chamber and is connected to measurement electronics (11) which are independent of the measurement and control electronics (9). A temperature display is connected to the calibration thermostat.
