A red rear brake light for a motor vehicle comprises a light source (2) red filter (3) reflector (1) and a colorless shell (5). Part of the light is so arranged that a following driver sees only a colorless brilliant reflection from a polished metal mirror and/or a light absorbing outer surface when the light source is switched off. An independent claim is also included for a rear light complex for a motor vehicle including the above.
