Sensor head for a capacitive approach sensor for connection to an electrical oscillator circuit, for contactless, edge-accurate detection of objects with different material properties has a sensor electrode for measuring capacity relative to an earth or negative electrode. The earth electrode (2) is integrated in the sensor head (1). The sensor head comprises a number of parallel electrically isolated layers that are perpendicular to the direction of approach of an object. The layers comprises earth, sensor (4) and compensation electrodes (3a, 3b).
