Processes for the production silyl bridged fluorenyl-cyclopentadienyl-metallocene compounds uses a mixture of an aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon and an alpha,beta-dialkoxy-alkane or aromatic compound. A process for the production of compounds of formula (1) comprises: (A) deprotonation of a compound of formula (2) with a base, (B) reaction of the deprotonated compound with a compound of formula (3) to form a compound of formula (4), (C) reaction of the compound of formula (4) with M+Cp- to form a compound of formula (5) and (D) reaction of the compound of formula (5) with a base and addition of LCl4. R1R2SiCl2 (3) R1, R2 = 1-20 C hydrocarbon; R3-R10 = H, halogen or 1-20C hydrocarbon; R11-R14 = H or 1-20C hydrocarbon; L = zirconium, hafnium or titanium; M = Li, Na, K, MgCl or MgBr; and Cp = cyclopentadienyl,. optionally substituted Step (A) is carried out in a mixture of an aromatic and/or aliphatic hydrocarbon and an alpha , beta -dialkoxy-alkane or alpha , beta -dialkoxyaromatic. An alkane is added after the deprotonation step and prior to step (B). Step (D) is carried out an aromatic and/or aliphatic hydrocarbon and a polar, aprotic solvent, with the exception of diethylether.
