The device is for protection against cases of disturbance in railways tunnels. It involves a monitoring station (1) before the entry into the tunnel (T) and equipped with detectors for at least one source of risk. A shunting area (3) is provided with at least one track (4) for such wagons as present a risk which is detected. At the monitoring station the train is monitored during its journey. The station is so positioned before the tunnel entrance that a train with risk-promoting wagons can be stopped safely prior to entering the tunnel and diverted to an appropriate shunting track.
