a) The preparation of hybrid molecules of formulae (2) and (3), by reaction of a Zn(II), Sn(IV) or Al(III) derivative of a porphyrin or phthalocyanin with taxol or baccatine III, in the presence of an anhydrous polar solvent at 0 - 120 deg C, is new. One of R1 and R2 = H and the other = -CO-O-P, -OCH2-CO-O-P, or -(CH2)2-CO-O-P R3 = -CO-O-P, -OCH2-CO-O-P, or -(CH2)2-CO-O-P, P = a metal derivative of a porphyrin (a) or of a phthalocyanin (b) X = phenyl, methylphenyl, chlorophenyl, or naphthyl, M = Zn(II), Sn(IV) or Al(III). b) Compounds of formulae (2) in which R1 = CO-P or CO-CH2-O-P, P = a porphyrin group in which the metal is not present and X = methyl phenyl, compounds of formula (2) in which R2 = -CO-CH2-O-P, P = a porphyrin group in which the metal is not present and X = methyl phenyl, and compounds of formula (3) in which R3 = -CO-CH2-O-P, P = a porphyrin group in which the metal is not present and X = methyl phenyl, are claimed per se.
