Producing mammals resistant to infection by alpha-herpes virus, e.g. pigs resistant to pseudorabies, by expressing transgene encoding fusion of receptor domain and immunoglobulin
Producing mammals resistant to infection by alpha-herpes virus, e.g. pigs resistant to pseudorabies, by expressing transgene encoding fusion of receptor domain and immunoglobulin
Producing a non-human mammal (A) that has been made resistant to infection by an alpha-herpes virus (aHV), for which the polypeptides HveC or nectin-1 represent functional receptors, by germinal transgenesis comprising introducing, by insertion or homologous recombination, a transgene (I) into the genome of germ line cells, is new. Producing a non-human mammal (A) that has been made resistant to infection by an alpha-herpes virus (aHV), for which the polypeptides HveC or nectin-1 represent functional receptors, by germinal transgenesis comprises introducing, by insertion or homologous recombination, a transgene (I) into the genome of germ line cells. (I) encodes, in a suitable expression system, a chimeric protein (II) comprising at least part of the extracellular domain (ED) of HveC or nectin-1 and a crystallizable fragment (CF) of an immunoglobulin (Ig). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) (A) produced by the new method; and (2) semen, ovocytes and embryos derived from the animals of (1).
