Producing mammals resistant to infection by alpha-herpes virus, particularly pigs resistant to pseudorabies, by expressing transgene encoding fusion of receptor domain and immunoglobulin
Producing a non-human mammal (A) that has been made resistant to infection by an alpha-herpes virus (aHV) by germinal transgenesis comprising introducing, by insertion or homologous recombination, a transgene (I) into the genome of germ line cells, is new. (I) encodes, in a suitable expression system, a chimeric protein (II) comprising at least part of the extracellular domain (ED) of the cellular receptor for aHV and a crystallizable fragment (CF) of an immunoglobulin (Ig). An Independent claim is also included for (A) produced by the new method.
