Method for forecasting data volumes in a data network in which: user usage is analyzed, traffic volumes are analyzed based or raw traffic data and models of software applications, the preceding data is fused by creating correspondences between users and traffic volumes and; traffic volume is estimated based on said models of traffic volume profiles. An Independent claim is made for a system for forecasting data volumes in a data network.
