The text entry system has a logic circuit associated with the key pad to translate single or combined key presses to alphabetic characters. Some characters are entered by pressing a single key, and others by pressing two keys quasi-simultaneously. Sufficient additional characters are provided by combining keys adjacent in rows and adjacent in columns on the key pad for new characters.
