The total knee prosthesis includes two prosthetic elements, comprising a tibial prosthetic element (3) fixed to the top of the tibia, and a femoral prosthetic element fixed to the lower part of the femur. The two prosthetic elements are connected by an intermediate element (1), so that they are relatively rotatable about perpendicular and parallel axes (xx',yy'). The intermediate element effects, on one part, a sliding movement relative to the tibial prosthetic element, and another part that effects a rotation of controlled amplitude about the longitudinal axis of the tibial element.
