A trophic composition in aqueous medium comprising a complex nutritive base, constituted, at least by a multiplicity of amino acids, vitamins, trace elements, and metal salts, said base excluding any cell growth factor, any biological extract of animal or cellular origin, and any therapeutic active ingredient, said composition being characterized in that: - besides the complex nutritive base, it is constituted by an inhibitor of collagenase of the corneal epithelium in humans or animals, and by a promoter of neocollagen synthesis: - it is formulated, with the complex nutritive base, to establish a pH between 7.3 and 7.5 and an osmolarity between 300 and 350 m Osm.
