The scintillator consists of an assembly of parallel fibres (6) between 40 and 500 Micro long and 10 - 200 Micro in diameter. The fibres are made from a polymer and contain a dispersed compound that emits ultraviolet (UV), visible light or infrared photons when subjected to X-rays. The fibres are glued together with an adhesive (10). An independent claim is also included for a method of making the X-ray detection scintillator.
