PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle producible without using a compound having active hydrogen and useful as a component of an addition polymerization catalyst, a method for producing the particle, the use of the particle, the addition polymerization catalyst producible without using a compound having active hydrogen and a method for producing an addition polymer by using the addition polymerization catalyst.;SOLUTION: The modified particle is produced by contacting (a) M1L1m (M1 is a typical metal atom of the group 1, 2, 12, 14 or 15; m is the valence of M1; and L1 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group), (b) a compound expressed by general formula [2] (R1 and R2 are each a hydrocarbon group or a substituted hydrocarbon group; R3 is a hydrocarbon group or a halogenated hydrocarbon group; and E is a non-metallic atom of the group 16), (c) R3t-2TH2 (T is a non-metallic atom of the group 15 or 16; and t is the valence of T) and (d) a particle.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
