PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for calculation-on-paper learning that enable answer input in an arbitrary order, freely entering of a memo or a carried-up or carried-down number into an area other than an answer character frame, scoring in a calculation stage, and entering of a carrying-down off symbol or rounding off symbol above a number.;SOLUTION: A calculation-on-paper learning support device has an answer character frame management table storage part which stores an answer character frame management table for answer character frames, including the calculation stages of the problems of calculation on paper; a handwriting input part which receives handwriting information that a user handwrites; a display part which displays the problems and answer character frames of calculation on paper, based on the answer character frame managing table; a handwriting display part which displays the handwriting information that the handwriting input part has received at the location where the handwriting information is inputted; a handwriting storage part which stores the handwriting information that the handwriting input part receives; an answer area decision part which decides whether handwriting information is inputted to an answer character frame; a character recognition part which performs character recognition for the handwriting information inputted to the answer character frame; a scoring part which performs scoring, including calculation stages; and a score result display part which displays the scored result.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
