ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY BINDER BASE MATERIAL FOR LIGHT-COLORED PAVEMENT, AND BINDER FOR LIGHT-COLORED PAVEMENT USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved petroleum-based softener which does not contain a carcinogenic polycycle aromatic compound as a binder base material for a light-colored pavement, and to provide a binder for the light-colored pavement, using the improved petroleum-based softener.;SOLUTION: The petroleum-based softener, which is a petroleum-based aromatic hydrocarbon oil, is provided as a base material. In the petroleum-based softener, the polycycle aromatic compound is decreased up to less than 3 wt%; a kinematic viscosity at 100°C is less than 45 mm²/s; and a carbon content obtained by composition analysis specified by ASTMD2140 is adjusted to 24% or more. Concurrently with that, the binder for the light-colored pavement, using the petroleum-based softener, is provided. The binder for the light-colored pavement has the following mix proportion: the 40-80 wt% petroleum-based softener (base material); a 20-60 wt% petroleum resin; a 5-20 wt% modifying polymer; a 0-2 wt% antioxidant; and a 0-3 wt% antistripping agent. The base material and the binder for the light-colored pavement, which have safety and high performance, do not incur the risk of the exposure of the human body or cause environmental pollution, throughout the manufacture of the binder for the light-colored pavement, the construction of pavement, and the in-service time of the pavement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
