PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium in which identification information unique to a disk for preventing illegal copy, to be recorded in an optical disk or the like is recorded in a region in which at least ternary or more reproduction signal levels are obtained and an another detection slice level B is provided between the levels, authenticity of the optical disk can be discriminated depending on existence of detection in the detection slice level B, and its reproduction method.;SOLUTION: This is an optical disk in which either or both of a groove and a land are used as a recording track and which is provided with a recording layer in which information can be recorded, at least ternary or more reproduction signal levels are obtained by providing a flat part at specific positions of fixed interval between the recording tracks or a groove part at specific positions of fixed interval between information pit columns. The flat part or the groove part can be detected by only the detection slice level B, an optical disk copied illegally to a recording medium and an optical disk illegally duplicated to a ROM can be distinguished by forming identification information unique to a medium of the optical disk in this region.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
