PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asymmetric molecule-distinguishing material capable of accurately distinguishing chirality and an asymmetric center position of an unknown chiral molecule, and obtained by using a synthetic polymer; and to provide a method for distinguishing the asymmetric molecule.;SOLUTION: The material for distinguishing the asymmetric molecule contains a nonpolar and optically inactive polysilane having the main chain comprising a silicon chain, and a side chain having a nonpolar functional group such as a hydrocarbon and being an optically inactive functional group. The distinguishment of the asymmetric molecule is carried out by carrying out the measurement of absorption spectrum of circular dichroism of a polysilane-asymmetric molecule complex obtained by adding the solvent for forming a precipitation to a distinguishing material-containing liquid obtained by mixing the asymmetric molecule-distinguishing material with the asymmetric molecule.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
