PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a poller to securely and speedily acquire desired publicly operated race information and to carry out the distribution of the publicly operated race information to polling efficiently for the poller. PSOLUTION: A publicly operated race information distribution system has: a portable terminal 10 with an infrared communication function that the poller carries; an information distribution server 20 which manages and holds various publicly operated race information including odds information; an infrared communication apparatus 30 which is arranged in publicly operated race facilities or at an off-site betting office and capable of infrared communication with the portable terminal 10; and a processing control part 40 which processes the publicly operated race information into data for portable terminal distribution in a format that the portable terminal 10 can handle, wherein the infrared communication apparatus 30 once receiving a distribution request from the portable terminal 10 through infrared communication distributes the data which is the publicly operated race information in response to the distribution request and processed to data for portable terminal distribution by the processing control part 40 to the portable terminal 10 through the infrared communication.
