SCALY ZINC POWDER FOR WATER-BASED METAL RUST-PROOF PAINT, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND WATER-BASED NONCHROMIC METAL RUST-PROOF PAINT IN WHICH THE SCALY ZINC POWDER IS DISPERSED

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a scaly zinc powder for water-based metal rust proof paints by adding a coating film preventing reaction with an aqueous binder solution and easily dispersing the scaly zinc powder in the aqueous binder solution in substantially a primary particle state on the surface of the scaly zinc powder used for water-based rust proof pigments expressing sacrificial corrosion protection effects, and provide a method for producing the same and a water-based nonchromic metal rust proof paint containing the scaly zinc powder. PSOLUTION: The scaly zinc powder for the water-based metal rust-proof paints is prepared by forming a thin film added with a silane compound having a hydrophobic group on the surface of particles of the scaly zinc powder and treating the surfaces of the zinc powder particles to be water repellent with the silane compound. A part of the scaly zinc powder may be substituted with a scaly aluminum powder. The silane compound having the hydrophobic group used for water repellent treatment has the hydrophobic group and an alkoxy group and the silane compound in which the alkoxy group is hydrolyzed to the hydroxy group is added to the surface of the scaly zinc powder.
