PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc powder that can be stably dispersed in water for a long period of time without using a hexavalent chromium at all and to provide a zinc powder-containing aqueous coating material.;SOLUTION: The zinc powder capable of being dispersed in water is formed by incorporating a zinc powder and a silane coupling agent having a mercapto group in its molecule in an amount of 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. zinc powder.
