PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical base plate where a facet is formed, a method for manufacturing the facet optical base plate, and a backlight display equipped with the facet optical base plate.;SOLUTION: The optical base plate includes one or more prism structures, and each of one or more prism structures has a 1st surface characterized by a 1st surface structure function modulated by a 2nd surface structure function, and the 1st surface structure function has the characteristic that each of one or more prism structures has a cross section having one or more curved side parts bringing defocus diffusion to light made incident on the base plate.
