PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the browsing of an image only by vertical scroll by copying or moving a bit map image according to the display width of equipment to be displayed in order to display it at another display picture.;SOLUTION: This image picture display unit is constituted of: a character rectangle area information extracting means for extracting the information of a character rectangle area including only characters by using the connected component information of pixels from an image picture IG0 to be processed; a storage means 13 for storing the order of the arrangement of the characters of the respective character rectangle areas extracted by the character rectangular area information extracting means 12; and a display means 14 for displaying the respective images concerning the respective character rectangular area information extracted by the character rectangular area information extracting means by carrying out line feeding or column feeding according to the display width of a predetermined display window.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
