PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which a thin film filter is so thin and brittle that it liable to be damaged, in mounting it in a groove of an optical device having a waveguide for the use of an optical communication system using WDM (wavewidth devision multiplexing), to provide a multilayer film element such as a thin film filter which is less breakable in the mounting operation on an optical device having a waveguide, and also to provide a mounting method which effectively prevents the multilayer film element from breaking.;SOLUTION: The multilayer film element 1 is provided with a multilayer film section 2 having a multilayer film and a holding section 3 which is formed by hardening an adhesive brought into contact with a part of the multilayer film section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
