PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a highly adsorptive titanium dioxide nanoparticle solution.;SOLUTION: Titanium tetrachloride or titanium sulfate is diluted and adjusted to pH 7.0-9.0 with aqueous ammonia (NH3) to produce titanium hydroxide (Ti(OH)4), after washing with water and filtration, a suitable oxidizing agent or a suitable acid (including an inorganic or organic acid) and a modifying agent and a surfactant (added as needed) are added to form an aqueous solution of a titanium dioxide nano-meter scale particle sol. This titanium dioxide nanoparticle solution is a colorless to yellow (gold) sol liquid according to operation conditions and concentration and has a titanium dioxide content of 0.5-10%, the titanium dioxide has a particle diameter distribution of 2-500 nm according to operation conditions, titanium dioxide nanoparticles of 2-20 nm particle diameter have the action of a photo-catalyst, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles of 20-500 nm particle diameter have self-cleaning (stain-resistant and easily cleanable) action.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
