ROSIN-MODIFIED PHENOL RESIN, GEL VARNISH, PRINTING INK AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING ROSIN-MODIFIED PHENOL RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rosin-modified phenol resin providing non-VOC (volatile organic compound) or VOC-free printing ink having excellent gloss, drying property, emulsification suitability resistance and misting resistance when an animal or vegetable oil component is used as a solvent and the ink is utilized for printing on coated paper and art paper, gel varnish and printing ink and to provide a method for producing the rosin-modified phenol resin.;SOLUTION: The rosin-modified phenol resin is obtained by reacting rosin with a phenol formaldehyde precondensate and a polyhydric alcohol. The phenol formaldehyde precondensate is obtained by reacting a phenol with formaldehyde in an ester between an animal or vegetable fatty acid and a monoalcohol. In the rosin-modified phenol resin, the ratio of the ester is 5-200 wt.% based on the total of the phenol and formaldehyde fed. The gel varnish and the printing ink comprise the rosin-modified phenol resin. The method for producing the rosin-modified phenol resin is provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
