PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe new apoptosis-inducing agent originated from coffee beans, to provide a food, a drink and a medicine each containing the same, and to provide a method for producing the apoptosis-inducing agent.;SOLUTION: This apoptosis-inducing agent is characterized by containing as an active ingredient an extract obtained by extracting raw coffee beans as the seed portions of coffee fruits or roasted coffee beans with a water-containing ethanol. The apoptosis-inducing agent is originated from the natural plant, has high safety, and exhibits the sure apoptosis-inducing action. The drink and food each contains 0.05 % of the apoptosis-inducing agent containing a coffee bean extract as an active ingredient. The medicine contains the apoptosis-inducing agent containing the coffee bean extract as the active ingredient in an amount of 1 mg/once for each adult. The method for producing the apoptosis-inducing agent comprises refluxing and extracting ground coffee beans with 50°C, 50 % water-containing ethanol for 2 hr, filtering, and then drying.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
